Technology

A technology park
for solid dosage forms.

An overview of the equipment and operations in our own facility, and when we use them. If a formulation belongs on a different technology, we say so — we do not manufacture at any price.

Equipment and operations

What runs in our facility

Three rotary tablet presses

Parallel capacity: orders do not queue, and changing tooling on one press does not stop production.

  • Interchangeable tooling — shapes and diameters to order
  • Round and shaped tablets
  • Direct compression and granulate compression
  • In-process weight and hardness control

Automatic capsule filling

Hard capsule filling in three sizes, for blends that will not compress.

  • Sizes 000, 00 and 1
  • Powder blends and granulates
  • Fill-weight control during filling

Wet granulation and drying

Improving flow, compressibility and uniformity of the blend. Key for extracts and low-density formulations.

  • Wet-route granulation
  • Drying to target residual moisture
  • Process conditions recorded per batch

Blending

Blending to a uniform mix — it decides the active content of every unit in the batch.

  • Blending of powders and granulates
  • Content uniformity across the batch
  • Critical for actives dosed in milligrams

Bottling

Tablets and capsules filled into bottles at the agreed count.

  • Tablets and capsules
  • Count per specification
  • Count check and closure

Labelling

Customer label, batch and best-before marking, final pack inspection.

  • Labels supplied or printed from artwork
  • Batch and best-before marking
  • Final pack inspection

On the floor

Three stations every batch goes through

Tabletting or capsule filling, then packing into bottles with a label. Here is how they follow each other.

Rotary tablet press

Granulate or powder falls from the hopper into the dies in the turret. Punches compress it and the finished tablet leaves at the discharge. Shape and diameter are set by the interchangeable tooling.

Automatic capsule filler

The turntable holds the capsule bodies, the dosing unit fills them with a weighed portion of the blend and the closing station caps them. Sizes 000, 00 and 1.

Bottle filling and labelling

A counted dose of tablets or capsules goes into the bottle, the bottle is closed and on the conveyor it receives a label with batch code and best-before date.

The drawings are our own and show the principle, not a specific machine. Photographs and video from our plant will follow.

Technical detail

Hard capsule sizes

Capsule size fixes the volume; the fill weight depends on the bulk density of the specific blend. That is why we give a range, not one number.

SizeCapsule volumeFill at 0.6–1.0 g/mlTypical use
000≈ 1.37 ml≈ 820–1,370 mgBulky blends and low-density extracts
00≈ 0.95 ml≈ 570–950 mgThe most common size for food supplements
1≈ 0.48 ml≈ 290–480 mgLower doses and easy-to-swallow products

Values are for a first estimate. The actual fill weight is confirmed by a pilot batch with your blend.

Why wet granulation

Technology decides what can be made

Direct compression is the cheapest route — but it only works for blends that flow well and hold together under pressure. Interesting formulations usually behave the opposite way.

01

Flow and weight

Granulate fills the die evenly, so every tablet has the same weight and therefore the same dose.

02

Strength and disintegration

Well-run granulation gives a tablet that survives packing and transport and still disintegrates reliably.

03

Uniformity

Granulation locks the distribution of ingredients — the active does not separate from the excipients during processing.

04

Capsules as an alternative

When a blend will not compress, a hard capsule is the answer — and it masks taste and smell too.

Documentation

What comes with the goods

A food supplement is a food, and the operator placing it on the market is responsible for the label. The manufacturing data they need comes from us.

Batch record

Raw materials used, process, process conditions and quantity produced for every batch.

Traceability

From the finished pack back to the raw-material lots — required by EU food law, standard practice for us.

Labelling data

Composition, dosage, batch and best-before in a form usable for notification and inspection.

Want a feasibility assessment?

Send the composition and target dose. We will tell you whether a tablet or a capsule fits and what the process will need.
